Security Guard Arrested for Theft of LA Lakers Championship Rings
A security guard from Inglewood, CA was arrested earlier this week after two NBA championship rings were stolen from the LA Lakers training facility in El Segundo. The security guard, identified as Eddie J. Monterroso, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony burglary and grand theft. The alleged crimes took place between October 23 and December 5th according to police. He is also suspected of stealing some gift cards that are valued at $20,000. Police believe that Mr. Monterroso had access to some keys to the training facility because there were no signs of breaking and entering. Police caught up with the suspect after he used the gift cards to purchase other items. Monterroso is being held on $35,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2.
